The classic bomberman returns in a great sequel.

I've never been a fan of Bomberman after getting my butt whooped on the SNES version. Nevertheless the man is back in Superbomberman and it was my duty to review it and let me tell you it's a great game.

The basic gameplay is the same as the original. You have to place bombs in a maze and then hide before the bomb explodes. You must kill all the enemies and blow up the objects until the exit is revealed. It's an easy concept which proves to be great fun to play.

There are plenty of power ups to collect. These include: extra bombs to lay; more powerful bombs with longer range and the best one is the remote detonation which gives you complete control of your bombs. There are 30 levels in total and with enough power ups you should be able to breeze through and challenge the high score. It's not all plain sailing as the AI of the enemies does increase with each level.

If you get bored of Arcade mode then there is always Versus mode. Here you compete against other bombermen and bomberwomen in a very frantic game where you have to try and destroy the other competitors. Before the game starts you can choose the AI of the other players as well as the amount of rounds you play. This mode is good fun but it is very fast.

The graphics throughout the whole game are good and there is 7 different backgrounds to play. They've also made a decent attempt at the sound and you even have option of choosing music or only special effects to be made. Naturally you can turn the sound off (which does increase the speed a bit).

For all you Bomberman fans out there, (and I know there's a lot of you) this is good sequel
