For Everyone Da Installation This game couldn't be easier to install… The only question you should have to ask yourself is, full installation or minimum? The answer if you have the space, should be full as the game will run better with the majority of it on your hard drive, instead of constantly having to access the CD-ROM drive. Da Introduction If you were a fan of Bullfrog's Theme Park, you'll love this game. Roller Coaster Tycoon is a game that lets you build and manage your own theme park. You control everything from roller coaster design to how much to charge people to use the can. You won't find a better theme park simulation game than this. It is the most recent of its kind to come out on the market and by far the best. Da Gameplay Roller Coaster Tycoon challenges you to come up with a theme park that your customers like, in a certain amount of time. For the most part, you are given a partially built park and told to complete the given scenario before a certain date. Usually, you start off with a small number of rides and as you play the game more and more rides and shops will be researched for you to build. There are tons of exciting, eye popping rides that you can build and control in your own park. What helps make this game so great is the input from John Wardley, (a famous roller coaster designer). He helped come up with a lot of the rides, ideas and roller coaster patterns and is proud to have his name on Roller Coaster Tycoon. When Chris Sawyer programmed this game, he didn't leave out ANY details. Every ride and shop has its own options for everything. You can change the prices of the products you sell, the colour of the roller coaster track and yes….. my favourite… the price of the washrooms! Although it takes time, the best part of the game I think is designing your own roller coaster. If you've ever dreamed of making little kids sick to the stomach on the most violent roller coaster ever, it's well worth the effort. It can also be very interesting just to follow your customers through your park while reading their thoughts and watching their money dance into your pocket. Management simulation games have a reputation for being addictive, and Roller Coaster Tycoon isn't any different. There are always problems to solve and people to make happy around the park, which almost gives a "Real Life" feel to the game. However, this game does have its bad side. I was disappointed first of all, that I couldn't ride my own rides in a first person perspective as in Bullfrog's Theme Park. I think it would be cool if you could construct a coaster then ride the same one to see how crazy it really is. Also, as I played this game I found myself adding in different entertainers in my mind. It would be nice if you could hire a magician to perform tricks on the path, a mime or just something other than men dressed in animal suits. Da Sound A game can be very good but if it has bad sound and dialogue, it takes away from the overall quality. You know as well as I do that when you hear the same sound over and over again, it gets very tiring. When this game was made, they had a goal in mind. They wanted to create a game with a lot of different music and limit the amount of annoying sounds that cause people to turn off their speakers. They were successful. This game is full of many distinct sounds and you don't need a top of the line sound card to produce them. Da Graphics The graphics in this game are incredible. Every person walking around your park looks different and you can even tell just by looking at the person, what they are eating and how sick they are feeling. You will also be amazed by the detail put into creating very smooth and flowing graphics everywhere in the game. The roller coasters look very realistic and you can tell that two years of hard work have gone into constructing this game. Da Conclusion Whether you are a fan of management sims or just a regular gamer, Roller Coaster Tycoon will knock you on your derriere. This game is certainly setting a high standard for upcoming management simulation games but it does have a few downfalls. I'm going to have to leave some room for improvement and rate this game 4.5 out of 5 joysticks. I reviewed this game on a: 550 MHZ processor 128 MB RAM Windows 98 27 GB hard drive 32 MB ASUS video card Sound Blaster Live! Sound card 100% Microsoft Compatible mouse
