Amplitude Continue Endlessly

Amplitude really like the concept of Endlessness. A while back, they announced two separate games, both with Endless in the title, both of which are apparently coming next year: Dungeons of the Endless, and Endless Legends. Despite the similar-ish titles, they're both two very different games, with two very different release dates. Let's talk about Dungeons first, because it's a subject close to my heart.

Specifically, it's a Roguelike. Do love me some Roguelikes, and this is apparently going to be a strange mix: Tower defence, and Roguelike. It's amusing to read the devblog, and discover that the whole project was begun because... Well, it was one of those drunken "duuuuude!" ideas (If you don't believe me, take a look at the devblog: Essentially, you explore a world, with occupants quite rightly annoyed that you (a bunch of escaped prisoners) have broken into their house, and then you defend the area you've opened up from the aforementioned annoyed occupants. I'm actually looking forward to seeing where this goes, but in the meantime, here's the full version of the two teaser trailers they released as part of a competition below (first vid). I haven't been able to interrogate a release date from them yet, but my pliers are ready, and I should have a rough answer for you before the 18th.

Their second project returns to their main love (4X games), but this time, it's a fantasy game, something akin to old classics like Master of Magic, but with the usual Amplitude touch. For example, did you know that altitude is important? Beyond the old Civ thing of impassable mountains and hills for production, I didn't, but Amplitude have clearly done their homework, and it'll be interesting to see where that goes. That's apparently due spring 2014, although that's subject to change (early days yet!). Either way, I'm looking forward to see what this talented team will have for us when the time comes!
